Paid Opportunities at Tanio Bermo

Tanio Bermo is a project run by Barmouth Town Council providing a Maker Space, Business Support and Community Space in Barmouth. There is a selection of hi-tech equipment available for members of the public or local businesses to use. There are also computers & printers available for local businesses.

The project is funded by Barmouth Town Council who pay the rent and utilities for the space. The equipment is available for use for free, materials used are charged at cost.

Tanio Bermo currently has two 3D printers (Prusa Mk 4 and Bambu A1), a laser cutter/engraver (OM Tech Polar), an embroidery machine (Brother Innov-Is 880E)a cutting machine (Silhouette Pro 4), sublimation printer, heat press, mug press, sewing machines and an overlocker. The equipment is run from PCs. Software used includes Light Burn, Inkscape, Ink/Stitich, Silhouette Studio and Affinity. The business support equipment includes PCs, A4 laser printer, A3 inkjet printer, A3 laminator

A grant has recently been secured from the Circular Economy fund managed by Menter Môn to build the project so we are now looking for contractors to provide the following roles.

 

Workshop Lead

Hours: Up to 4 hours a week. For up to 1 year.

Role:

  • Plan and run workshops on using the equipment at Tanio Bermo

  • Introductory and intermediate levels

  • Lead workshops with a specific outcome e.g. make an x, design a y, not just show how the kit works.

Skills & Experience:

  • Familiarity with equipment similar to that at Tanio Bermo

  • Familiarity with design software and techniques needed to use the equipment

  • Willingness to learn new techniques and develop more advanced workshops as applicable

  • Ability to communicate knowledge to others

  • An ability to communicate in Welsh and English would be an advantage

Terms & Conditions: contractor will be self-employed and invoice the Town Council monthly for the work done. Hourly rate to be agreed. Contractor will be responsible for their own tax, national insurance etc.

One-to-one Support / Technician

Hours: Up to 4 hours a week. For up to 1 year.

Role:

  • Available to support one-to-one sessions (booked in advance) with local individuals and businesses to us the equipment at Tanio Bermo for their own projects.

  • Emphasis on supporting the individual to do the work, not to do it for them.

Skills & Experience:

  • Familiarity with equipment similar to that at Tanio Bermo

  • Familiarity with design software and techniques needed to use the equipment

  • Willingness to learn new techniques and develop more advanced workshops as applicable

  • Ability to communicate knowledge to others

  • An ability to communicate in Welsh and English would be an advantage
